The 2007 Education for All Global Monitoring Report, published by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) focuses on the importance of early child education and care. The report finds Latin America and the Caribbean lead the developing world in early childhood education. Despite the well-documented benefits of early childhood education, however, most other developing nations do not do enough. The report includes an assessment of where the world stands on its commitment to provide basic education to all by 2015.
